On the walk to Chikuzen High School we passed this lovely field with flowers, surrounded by ... gigantic electrical poles, a highway bridge and road fences. Beauty in Japan is best enjoyed in a zoom lens- perspective, that way you can block out unattractive scenery!

View from the school of the hills in the distance. This is pretty much the only greenery you see in Chikuzen High; seems like the Japanese and the Belgians have a lot in common when it comes to designing schools!

Rice paddies are not just found in the countryside but can be seen everywhere, including suburban areas and even next to industrial sites. Vaughan recently saw a traffic island that was turned into a rice paddy, talk about using space efficiently! We passed this one on our way back from Chikuzen high school.
