Heading north
Well, aren't we all getting in the Christmas spirit! This photo was taken several weeks ago after midnight (this last fact serves as my defense for looking like an idiot) by Piet, our Belgian friend who was visiting at the time. The fluffy hand belongs to Liesbeth, and together they've given us the best Christmas present ever: free accommodation in the heart of Yokohama, a mere 20 km from Tokyo. Too bad that they'll be in Belgium the entire time we're staying in their appartment, I guess that makes us shameless freeloaders! Their generosity is certainly appreciated though because this winter we couldn't afford to fly off to South-East Asia (unlike most other JETs we know) so a trip to Tokyo was a perfect alternative :-). Arigato gozaimas guys, we'll report here about our adventures & will try not to break anything/flood the bathroom/alienate the neighbours/...!

Hey Inge, Did you figure out the oven?? have a jolly good Xmas time!!
Hey guys. My last day of work for the year so I'll not be able to catch up till the 2nd week of Jan when we start again.
Have a good Xmas & New Year. If you're anything like me you'll find Xmas in Nihon a little wierd - all the commercial trappings but little none of the feel of Xmas in NZ or Europe.
New Year should be good though. Try & get to a shrine & shoulder your way through the scrum of people (time to use your rugby skills Mr Curd) to do the prayer thing.
Have a good one!
