Weekends

This shot of the waterfront close to our house -the pointy building is the city's landmark, Fukuoka Tower- was taken last weekend on a winter's day so sunny & balmy it felt like the middle of March. Vaughan & I decided against going to a sake festival with friends and opted instead for some much-needed relaxation: biking along the Muromi River, exploring the countryside & indulging in delicious desserts on our way home :-). An excellent day for him to clear his mind of study woes and for me to charge my batteries in preparation of my new job at the bilingual monthly magazine Fukuoka Now. My first week at work is almost over now & while I could do with some chilling on the couch, I'm actually flying to Tokyo this evening for a three-day extravaganza with my Belgian friend Liesbeth. She recently got engaged, which is a good enough excuse to have girl time, soak in hot springs, embarrass ourselves at karaoke (oh wait, that's just me!) & possibly submit her to some pre-marriage public humiliation -otherwise known as the bachelorette party ;-).
