Geisha Dances

The Miyako Odori was started in 1872 as a way for Kyoto to assert its cultural importance after the capital of Japan was moved to Tokyo. It is held throughout the month of April as a celebration of springtime and the cherry blossoms.

Inge, your pictures are beautiful! I`m envious! (^-^) Looks like you had a seat near the hanamichi...those are the best! I was near the center in the 2nd row I think...I wish I had a super zoom lens! But I lucked out with my seats so I can`t complain.

I hope you enjoyed the dance!
