Staying with locals in any country gives you a unique insight into their culture, away from the usual sightseeing spots and tourist traps. It's my absolute favorite way of travelling and we were incredibly lucky that in Morogoro we had such wonderful hosts. One of the highlights of our week there was no doubt the wedding of one of Peter's friends, which we were invited to. Initially we felt like intruders, especially since we were very underdressed for the occasion, but none of the guests seemed to mind having two strangers in their midst! The festivities consisted of the usual wedding activities such as greeting the guests, cutting the cake, handing out presents and giving speeches, but all of this was done with a decidedly Tanzanian twist. One of the elements that struck us most was the way dancing was interwoven in every single moment - be it the two families intermingling, friends presenting their gifts or the MC announcing the next part of the ceremony. To our surprise V. and I became part of this as well when we had to join the dancing masses up front to wish the new couple a blissful married life. I got into the rhythm enough to have a brief boogy later on with Peter, but our moves were not nearly as impressive as the dancers in this video (the wedding band, the groom's uncle on the left and the bride's mother on the right):
