A few days ago I heard on the Flemish news that the Belgian Prime Minister, Guy Verhofstadt, was about to depart on a week-long Asian tour, and that Japan would be honoured with a visit as well. Strangely enough I got quite excited about this, despite the fact I couldn't care less if I actually ran into him in Belgium itself! Goes to show how nostalgia for your home country pops up in weird ways... It seems Verhofstadt wasn't met by heaps of members of the press (or public, for that matter!) because I could only find one article on his meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi.
